Book Review
In Dominic, Elizabeth Amber brings back the Lords of Satyr in a connected tale. Dominic is the 4th book in the series. I hadn't read any of those books prior to reading this one, but I rectified that oversight quickly by reading Raine (book #2).
Dominic picks up the story of Emma, half-sister to Jane, who is the wife of Raine's brother Nicholas (and who has his own book which I will definitely have to pick up sometime soon). Dominic himself is a full-blooded Satyr who has a very special role in the world of the Satyr, ElseWorld.
This is a lovely but very hot story of darkness, desire, sex, and love. I'm not going to lie about the fact that the extra body parts give me the giggles, but the author easily gets past my apparent issues with the overly wild and crazy and makes me love these characters anyway. Dominic was more fun for me because the fantasy and paranormal elements were more fully developed. Raine was better because—well, I'd better save that for Raine's review. Neither of these are lighthearted stories.
Although I especially liked Dominic's story, which took up just over 200 pages, or about two thirds of the book, I didn't feel that Vincent's story fit the space allotted for it. A key element of the story seemed to be seriously underdeveloped, leaving me with the feeling that the largest part of the tale of Vincent and his love story was a summary of a much larger story. That's about as much as I'll say about Vincent and his story, except that yes, it was very intriguing, with some great elements, but yes, there was definitely something missing from this particular story.
Still, if you liked any of the other books in the Lords of Satyr series, you'll certainly want to read this one for Emma's and Dominic's story. Dominic was darkly sexy and Emma made for an intriguing heroine.
