Book Review
Hot Mail by Janice Maynard is a deliciously sexy, sweetly romantic tale of two friends who are meant to be much more than friends.
This Valentine's romance brings together Jane and Ethan, who had once been close friends but now rarely even speak to each other. Ethan's short-lived engagement to another woman ended their friendship but did nothing to end Jane's romantic feelings for her best friend. Now, four years later, Jane is ready to do something about the rift between them by writing a series of anonymous, erotic valentines to Ethan. But this time around she doesn't just want to be his friend. She wants love—and sex.
Ethan's sex appeal is hard to deny. He's the assistant chief of police. He loves his family and he still wonders what went wrong between him and Jane, even though he seems to understand at some deeper level why they're no longer good friends. At first he wants only to resurrect his friendship with Jane, but quickly he realizes the attraction he feels for her isn't quite what he remembers. He wants Jane in a way he never wanted her before. From here, the story picks up speed, and the heat between Jane and Ethan grows.
Interspersed throughout this romantic read is a secondary story involving Ethan's sister and one of his officers. I liked this secondary romance a lot.
Without a doubt, Hot Mail is a great little story, spicy and romantic, and a great way to pass this coming St. Valentine's Day!
