If I wasn't hooked on Virginia Kantra's Children of the Sea series before Immortal Sea, I would be now. But who am I kidding? I've loved this series ever since Sea Witch was released.
Immortal Sea is the story of Morgan of the finfolk and Dr. Elizabeth Rodriguez, a woman with whom Morgan spent one night of pleasure with about 16 years ago. Now Elizabeth has two children, and it becomes apparent quite quickly that Morgan fathered her teenage son, Zack. Morgan is sure Zack is also finfolk and wants only to take him and return to the sea. Only his desire for Elizabeth keeps him from doing just that.
Kantra's ability to weave Morgan and Elizabeth's love story together with Zack's coming of age story without detracting from the overall romance created a very special book. The scenes with Zack were compelling reading and were essential to the book's overall depth and power. Morgan was an especially strong character and his change over the course of the story came naturally and gradually. I particularly liked how distanced he seemed from humanity in general at the opening of the story and how he only slowly began to see the value in humans and in Elizabeth in particular. Morgan has to be one of my favorite heroes in a long time-sexy, strong, and capable of great change for the woman he comes to love.
Immortal Sea has stayed with me and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sexy, bold, and refreshingly unique paranormal romance with a touch of suspense and danger. This is a fantastic book and you shouldn't miss it!
