Bookcover: Jungle Heat

Jungle Heat is a compelling revisit of Tarzan. During an expedition to Africa, James finds a man who has been living in the jungle, having apparently been raised by the Gorillas of the Congo. Odd One, or Michael as he's later called, is drawn to James, who begins teaching him about Man.

I don't want to ruin this review by writing a summary that isn't going to do the book justice so I'll just stop there. Yes, the premise sounds almost funny, but I was amazed at how fascinating and compelling I found the story.

The author's skill is apparent from the start and her characters leap off the page. Michael was an amazing character and even James was a man of the times. No unrealistic acceptance for homosexuality for the period setting in this story, and that was also something I liked.

The sex was sexy and the story was entertaining. Jungle Heat is an excellent book and if you're tempted, you should give it a try!

Book Description

Congo Free State, 1888

On a mission deep in the jungle, Oxford anthropologist James Litchfield comes face-to-face with a local legend: a wild man who wanders with mountain gorillas and lives as one of their own.

The chance encounter with the savage, whom James calls Michael, leads to a game of observation and exploration. Their mutual curiosity turns to an attraction—one that Michael has never experienced and James is desperate to deny.

When members of the expedition unearth James's secret discovery—a living specimen of man at his most primitive—Michael becomes a pawn in their quest for fame.

As their relationship deepens, James is compelled to protect Michael from the academics who would treat him as nothing more than a scientific acquisition and London society, which threatens to destroy their passionate bond...
