Book Review
Adept John Atlantis is a security expert in a world of mages, magic, and spells. When his friend and ex-partner in the world of black ops asks him to help Kiera Stevens find a spy in her company kidTek, he agrees.
Kiera reluctantly agrees to Lantis' suggestion that they pose as lovers to keep others from discovering his reason for hanging around kidTek and Kiera, but it doesn't take long for them to become lovers in every sense.
Lantis works a spell to create a firewall for Kiera to help protect her company from the spy within and during the casting of the spell, Lantis and Kiera unexpectedly become entangled--linked on a psychic level.
One of the interesting facets of the relationship between Kiera and Lantis is that of sex magic. For an erotic romance, this adds an otherworldly element to their sexual interaction.
Other highly erotic moments occur when Lantis discovers (through their entanglement) that Kiera has certain fantasies. Kiera feels she must always be in control, but Lantis helps her live her secret fantasy to be anything but in control. These scenes were the strongest sexual scenes in the book by far and were certainly strong enough to keep this reader happy!
But there are also many moments in the book where Lantis and Keira's relationship evolves on a deeper level, giving me the feeling that the sex between them wasn't the only thing holding them together.
The first half of the story was about the sex. The second half was an action adventure tale worthy of more than one heart wrenching moment of anxiety and breathlessness.
The idea that this story's setting is an alternate Earth in which magic is common enough to be found in kid's toys or used as an enhancement or companion to technology was intriguing, if somewhat vague and undeveloped. Ms. Dante surely knew her world, which was written with authority, but she never gave her reader (me) the chance to learn much more about it than what few clues she dropped as the story progressed.
Nevertheless, "Entangled" was an engaging read, overflowing with lush sexuality and intrigue. If you like your sex with a side of intrigue, this book will certainly satisfy.
