If you get the chance to catch only one book this month, you might want to check out Smart Girls Think Twice by Cathie Linz. This was my first reading of a Cathie Linz novel, but I can say definitively that I'll be trying another. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and humorous tone.
What Emma and Jake had going for them...
I love a good romance and this book had plenty of that. Without a heavy external plot, these characters really had to carry the story. They did that just fine. Their attraction, their interactions, their personalities—all these things came together to create characters I didn't want to leave behind once I reached the end of this book.
Maybe I'll get to see them again someday, since this book appears to be part of a series involving Emma's quirky family. Despite (or maybe because of) their zaniness, I was able to relate to Emma's family in a way I haven't often related to characters in a book. It was realism with a touch of sass! What an enjoyable way to spend the day reading!
